Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop Update Arrives in U.K.

We’re still waiting for the Galaxy S5 to receive its Android update in America, but over in Europe it looks like Samsung’s Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade is hitting another country this week. SamMobile reports that the new software is rolling out in the U.K. after previously launching in Poland, Russia, Malaysia and Spain.

As expected, the update brings Google’s new Material Design aesthetic to some of Samsung’s own pre-installed apps, including the phone, SMS, calculator, clock and S Health. You’ll also receive lockscreen and heads-up notifications. Finally, the entire user interface has been cleaned up a bit to match the new operating system.

If you’re in the U.K., you should be able to download Android 5.0 Lollipop for your Galaxy S5 today, either using Samsung’s Kies desktop software or over the air. For the former, plug your smartphone into your computer or, for the latter, just jump into Settings > System > About Device > Software update > Update for a wireless upgrade.
