Plague Knight

It looks like Yacht Club Games is getting really close to finally rolling out all that DLC supporters secured during Shovel Knight‘s Kickstarter campaign. The company took to Miiverse to provide an update on its current work, and it’s there that it announced the first playable villain.

Gamers will be able to roll through the world as Plague Night. Here’s the official word from Ian at Yacht Club Games.

As for us here at Yacht Club Games, this is the year of Shovel Knight Updates! We’re creating all new surprises that will make their way to the world of Shovel Knight. Leading the charge is Plague Knight’s Campaign! In this mode, Plague Knight will become a new playable character complete with his own tricks, abilities, and story to explore! Mona, who runs the potion mini-game in the village, will have a vastly expanded role too.

An expanded role for Mona, too? Sounds good to me.

Shovel Knight won a spot in our best games of 2014 list for a reason. It’s a brilliantly retro-esque title, and it’s a game that both Ron and I enjoyed immensely. I know he can’t wait to play through the game as a bad guy, and I can’t either.

If you haven’t played Shovel Knight yet, it’s currently selling at 33 percent off for both the Wii U and 3DS.
