It’s been more than a year since Oppo first launched the R1, and now the company may finally be ready to reveal a follow-up to its mid-range handset. The Oppo R1C will apparently offer similar specs, though with a few improvements and some sapphire glass for extra durability. However, it’s unclear if that sapphire will be used to cover the new phone’s display or protect its glass-covered back.
The news comes from Chinese site MyDrivers, which also claims the device could make its debut this week on Wednesday. The Oppo R1C will allegedly offer a 5-inch 720p display, a Snapdragon 615 processor clocked at 1.5GHz, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage with microSD support for up to 128GB. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal, though for now the Oppo R1C is just another rumor.
If Oppo really is planning to unveil the R1C later this week we shouldn’t have to wait much longer for the official news. Hopefully the company has plans for a U.S. launch with this device as well.
