BlackBerry Classic Now Available From Carphone Warehouse

BlackBerry’s latest smartphone is now available from Carphone Warehouse in the U.K. Brits can get the Classic on contract or unlocked and SIM-free, and prices start at as little as £14.50 (approx. $22) a month on a two-year plan.

The Classic is a modern BlackBerry designed for long-time fans. It combines the latest BlackBerry 10 software with a physical keyboard, trackpad, and menu buttons similar to those found on one of BlackBerry’s best-selling smartphone, the Bold 9900.

BlackBerry hopes the Classic will convince those who are still using the Bold or another BlackBerry 7 OS handset to finally upgrade. To make it as appealing as possible, the Canadian company has also made it relatively affordable.

Carphone Warhouse is currently offering the device on contract with almost all of the U.K.’s major carriers — except Three — and if you’re willing to pay an upfront fee, you can get it for just £14.50 a month. If you want to drop the upfront fee, you can expect prices to start at £26.50 (approx. $40) a month.

If you’d rather pay for your Classic outright and get it unlocked and SIM-free, Carphone Warehouse will charge you £329.99 (approx. £499).

These aren’t bad prices for a brand new smartphone, but it’s worth remembering the Classic has essentially the same internals as the Q10, which is very nearly two years old now.
