Despite the CEO of Origin PC (not the same as EA’s Origin service) saying the Steam Machine concept is “kind of pretty much dead,” it sounds like we can look forward to more information about them at this year’s Game Developers’ Conference.
“We’re planning a very large presence at GDC with Steam Machines being front and center,” said a Valve representative in a statement to Game Informer. Origin’s CEO, Kevin Wasielewski, had suggested as much in a conversation with GameSpot yesterday, so this confirms it. Wasielewski said at the time that the Steam controller is finalized as well.
Whether what we see at GDC is a Steam Machine or simply a living room PC running Steam OS, Valve has big enough plans that it scheduled its annual Steam Dev Days conference this year to presumably to focus more on its plans for GDC.
