4-inch iPhone 6s Just “Hype,” Supply Chain Says

iPhone 6 vs iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 5s-7

There have been a couple of reports recently that suggest Apple is working to build a smaller iPhone next year, one that measures roughly 4-inches in size. The goal, these rumors say, is for Apple to continue to attract customers who appreciate the smaller size of the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s. That may never actually happen.

One of the original sources was an analyst with alleged ties to Apple’s supply chain, and another was a site named Feng.comThe latter recently issued a new report that says any mention of a smaller iPhone 6s in Apple’s supply chain right now is just “hype.”

The site said its sources explained that “Apple has not made any new production” changes that show the possibility of a 4-inch iPhone development and that the 4-inch iPhone 6s “argument is not true — at least so far.” Since Apple has moved to the 4.7-inch form factor, the “re-launch of the new Apple iPhone 4-inch screen is likely to suffer the same embarrassment like the iPhone 5c market reaction.”

This, just like the original report, is still a rumor. We’ve argued that it might make sense for Apple to relaunch a smaller iPhone with flagship specs, but then again it might not happen after all. All speculation and rumors at this point and really nothing more. MacWorld
