Platinum Games has really turned into something special, haven’t they? They released Bayonetta a few years back, and that game became a sort of cult hit. Bayonetta 2 dropped this year, and it landed with tons of praise dubbing it the action title of 2014. Now, the Bayonetta 2 team is working on something new.
Bayonetta 2 Producer Akiko Kuroda was one of the two who revealed that the team is working on something new during a feature by Japanese gaming outlet 4Gamer. Here’s what she had to say:
“We’ve already began working on the next project, but it seems like it’ll be a little while longer until we can make an announcement…
…I hope that we can do something related to the Bayonetta series in 2015 as well, so please keep an eye out for more from Bayonetta!”
Director Yusuke Hashimoto followed that quote from Kuroda with this:
“Currently, a new project is in progress! We’re doing our best to develop something that will make you all say ‘I want to play it!’ and thank you for your continued support in 2015 as well!”
Kuroda’s is certainly more telling than Hashimoto’s. Specifically, Kuroda clearly offers that whatever she and her team are working on isn’t related to Bayonetta. There’s that bit about hoping that can “do something related to the Bayonetta series in 2015 as well” that really drives that point home.
Speaking personally, Platinum Games has gone from a fringe developer whose work I enjoyed as low-budget stuff to one that pumps out games I know I’ll love. I’m excited for whatever they do next, how about you?
