Sony may have a few surprises during the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show, which kicks off early next week. Right now we think the company may unveil at least one new mobile device, but perhaps might have a new Xperia Z4 smartphone in addition to a tablet in store. A recent teaser suggests that whatever is on deck is extremely thin, and a new report from DigiTimes provides some insight into what that device might be.

The news outlet, not always known for its accuracy, said recently that Sony is planning to launch a large 12.9-inch tablet with a 3840 x 1440-pixel display. The device will reportedly enter mass production with Pegatron soon, ahead of its launch sometime during the first half of 2015. Given that timeframe, that means Sony could introduce the device during CES 2015 next week, or perhaps during the Mobile World Congress trade show in March. We’re expecting the former, however, since DigiTimes said the tablet is expected to measure just 8.6mm thin, which fits with the aforementioned teaser.

The news outlet suggests Sony will attach a price tag that may exceed $1,000 however, so start saving those pennies now.
