Final Fantasy XIV Expansion Gets New Jobs, Race, and Music

Fans of Square Enix’s online RPG, Final Fantasy XIV, have been looking forward to the upcoming Heavensward expansion for some time. The team building the expansion has some new images for fans to salivate over and maybe tempt a few more of us into the fold.

The expansion adds a new race, the Au Ra. This race is entirely new for FFXIV – it hasn’t appeared in any other Final Fantasy title. The Au Ra have curved horns, scales, and long tails. The new jobs players will be able to access are the Astrologian, a healer and support class, as well as the Machinist, a ranged class with big guns and mechanical turrets.

The expansion will also add a new endgame raid and a new musical theme from series composer Nobuo Uematsu. If you pick up the collector’s edition of the game, you’ll get art by Yoshitaka Amano, a dragon figure, an art book, and some in-game items.

Heavensward doesn’t have a hard release date yet, but is set to sell in spring 2015.
