Let’s break this list down.

The star of the bunch is a whole wave of great indie games to populate your PlayStation products. Hotline Miami is a great choice for both consoles and handhelds. Terraria, Don’t Starve, Flower, and CounterSpy are also popular hits that are both great on the road or from a couch.

After that, we can turn to Ubisoft’s Child of Light, which is a nice little tribute to the JRPG genre. Pier Solar and the Great Architects is a little tempting too because it is even more of a throwback to the classics in my favorite genre. If only it was playable on the Vita, where I do most of my JRPGin’ these days.

As for the big games, we have Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition and Metro: Last Light. Both are popular mid-level hits because of their ability to deliver a big experience without the baggage a lot of AAA games see these days.

Which did I pick up? Well, I snagged Hotline Miami because I want to own it permanently despite being in my Instant Game Collection. However, I also snagged up Persona 4 Arena finally as well! Atlus is throwing an unadvertised sale on most of the Shin Megami Tensei games and a few of its other hits. Don’t overlook them. They aren’t part of the holiday sale, and you’ll have to go digging for them under other tabs.
