When Microsoft purchased Mojang, one eventuality was made absolutely certain: the Windows Phone platform would get Minecraft. Minecraft: Pocket Edition is now available on the Windows Phone Marketplace, and, no, it’s not just a knock-off app that crashes at the loading screen. This is the real deal.
Microsoft announced the news on the Xbox Wire. It was there that they offered the features of Minecraft: Pocket Edition to its newest audience. This mobile version of the PC and then consoles game includes both survival and creative modes. You can even do a little multiplayer Minecraft‘n over Wi-Fi.
The only bit of lame news here is that Microsoft is not offering a hometown discount for Minecraft: Pocket Edition on Windows Phone. It will sell for $6.99, the same price it asks on both the Google Play and App Store marketplaces.
So, Windows Phone owners, are you going to pick Minecraft: Pocket Edition up now that it’s officially made the jump? I know I’d be in if I was still rocking my Lumia 920.
