Earlier this week, Google announced a pretty big update for its Hangouts app on Android. Now, the company is pushing out a separate update for Windows and Chromebook desktops that adds a few useful new features. You can grab the update now, and Google product manager Mayur Kamat confirmed the news with a screenshot of the new desktop Hangouts.

Notifications should be way better on Hangouts for your desktop moving forward. You’ll also have the option to minimize the app so it’s hidden behind the scenes, though you’ll still get notifications when a new message comes in. Finally, Google added a new Phone tab in the main Hangouts window, making it easier to quickly call someone from your computer.

You’ll have to reload Hangouts to check out the new features, or hit the Chrome Web Store if you still haven’t downloaded it. Unfortunately, Hangouts for Chrome on OS X is still lagging pretty far behind, and after today’s update that gap is even bigger. Hopefully, Google has plans to revamp the app for Macs soon.
