We know that the PlayStation 4 version of Final Fantasy VII is basically a port of the Steam version, but if you are planning to buy it, expect to drop an extra $4!
Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy VII will cost gamers $15.99 for the PlayStation 4 version of the game, and this is the same version which costs $11.99 on the PC. I know it’s not that much money, but it’s the principle of the matter! In its announcement, Square Enix pointed to “system-exclusive features,” probably explaining where that extra $4 is going to.
I’m neutral on this, though. I am perfectly happy with my $9.99 PSOne classic version I bought all those years ago. I don’t need trophies, HD graphics, or “level boost” cheats, and I would much prefer to sacrifice those benefits for the chance to play it on my PS Vita on the go!
Unless this PS4 version allows for cross-buy and a better resolution than the PS Vita’s PSOne emulator, then I am perfectly fine putting this port out of my mind.
