Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse is already available for those who want to play it on the Nintendo 3DS, but let us not forget that there is a console version also in the works. WayForward Technologies has been working to release the game for the Wii U as well right alongside its handheld release, but it was forced to release them separately due to time constraints.
Now, WayForward has announced that the Wii U version of the game has been finished, and it has been submitted for the final approval process by Nintendo. If it goes well, the game could be released before the end of 2014.

General word on the street says that this “metroidvania” title has done a great job honing in WayForward’s style and ambition, finely tuning what made its previous games fun into a much more satisfying package.
I haven’t had a chance to play Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse yet, but I am a fan of the previous two games. I’ll probably take my dive into it next year before Shantae: Half-Genie Hero releases on all HD platforms. I am a Kickstarter backer after all, and I don’t have to worry about dropping anymore money on it.
