Microsoft has scheduled a special Windows 10 event for Jan. 21—a spectacle I imagine will discuss Cortana’s arrival on the desktop. Invites going out to press say Microsoft is ready to describe “the next chapter” of Windows 10. That could mean a whole host of different things, but seeing how so many Cortana leaks have hit over the past several weeks, it’s likely the Redmond company wants to talk about how its personal assistant will function in a desktop environment. From what we’ve seen already, Cortana looks made for Windows 10.
According to The Verge, all the Microsoft big boys will be in attendance, including CEO Satya Nadella, Windows chief Terry Myerson, Xbox head Phil Spencer and Joe Belfiore, who is in charge of the phone, tablet and PC experience of Windows. All Microsoft platforms are represented, which means we’ll probably get a good look at how Windows 10 will work on desktop, mobile and Xbox One.
We hear the event will be livestreamed, and you can bet we’ll be covering all the news as it breaks.
