Confirming a leak earlier this week, Square Enix has announced that the Final Fantasy X|X2 HD Remaster will be heading to the PlayStation 4. The company made the announcement at at PlayStation press event in Shanghai before spreading word throughout the rest of the world.
Again, Final Fantasy X|X2 HD Remaster will be released on the PlayStation 4 in the spring of 2015 for $39.99. Square Enix has not stated if any additional content will be added on top of what the PS Vita and PlayStation 3 version offered, but I doubt this will be the case. It seems like this will be just a direct port, and the most you’ll get out of it is a chance to play it on a more modern console.
Is it enough to triple-dip on Final Fantasy X or X2? Again, I doubt it. This is most likely for people who did not snag it up on the PlayStation 3. Like I said before, the only way I will drop money on Final Fantasy X in the next decade or so is on the Vita version if I find it on sale through the PlayStation Store. I might want to play it on the go someday, just like the rest of my JRPG collection.
Maybe I’d pick this up if my PlayStation 3 died as well. Wouldn’t surprise me one bit considering how fragile the PlayStation 2 was.
