Despite two spectacular trailers, I’m still not really sure what Mad Max: Fury Road is about. Nonetheless, the movie, which stars Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, looks absolutely amazing. If the first trailer wasn’t enough to sell you, this second look mostly certainly will. The dusty, desert wasteland looks absolutely brutal, as do the vehicles. I particularly like how vivid the world is; it looks completely apocalyptic and broken. And, as the trailer reveals, is completely dependent on water and oil.
George Miller, who introduced us to the world of Mad Max all the way back in 1979, is in the director’s chair once again for this new entry in the series. I’m really, really liking everything thus far; the costumes, sets and cars capture a world unlike any other in film, and the use of practical effects gives it a real edge over films that rely too heavily on CGI (though Fury Road certainly has its fair share).
Mad Max: Fury Road is set to hit theaters on May 15, 2015.
