Despite beliefs that the Wii U GameCube Controller Adapter had been discontinued, it only appears that a shortage hit several major retailers. Nintendo of Europe stepped in to address the situation saying that it has not been discontinued and that it is only having trouble keeping up with the demand.

“We would like to reassure you that GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U has not been discontinued by Nintendo of Europe and we are doing everything we possibly can to meet the demand which is currently outstripping supply.
