LG is reportedly gearing up to launch yet another smartwatch, one that will follow on the heels of the G Watch and the G Watch R, two Android Wear products that launched this year. According to GforGames, it may be one of the first smartwatches on the market to feature 4G connectivity, and could make its debut during the Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona in March.
Samsung already sells a connected smartwatch, the Gear S, though that device connects over slower 3G networks. GforGames said that LG is currently planning to launch the device under the “G Watch R2” moniker, which suggests it may also run Android Wear. However, this past October we learned that LG may also secretly be working on a webOS smartwatch, too. The report doesn’t provide any additional details on the watch, though the “R” in the name may reveal that it will sport a round watchface.
Mobile World Congress is typically a busy show chock full of new mobile products, and it seems plausible that we’ll see plenty of new wearables at the show, whether from LG or its competitors. We’ll be there in just a few months, but in the meantime we have CES to look forward to in early January.
