Bloodborne Trailer – Random Dungeons and Flamethrowers? Why Not?

Bloodborne survived the gauntlet of PlayStation Experience as still one my most anticipated games for the PlayStation 4. Developer From Software has a bit of a ways to go to catch up with Hello Game’s No Man’s Sky, but aside from it, nothing else really stood out this weekend as a sure fire exclusive that is going to dethrone this spiritual successor to Dark Souls.

The trailer above premiered during The Game Awards before the convention, but we also got a healthy dose of information regarding the game’s multiplayer room, the Chalice Dungeon, straight from the floor. Characters are dropped in this triple-layered structure to hunt one another down, but of course, the map is never the same place twice. The Chalice Dungeon is a continuously evolving area with randomly generated traps, pitfalls, tricks, and enemies to take a solid gash out of your side.

Better stay on your toes, or what seems like an easy kill might become nothing more than bait for a lurking beast, like you see in the trailer.

Plus, we also get a solid look at the new flamethrower and some sick new enemy designs as well. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki’s return to the big chair of game development couldn’t be anymore obvious, I think. This game is bleeding with the dreadful character designs and horrific atmosphere that I felt was lacking in Dark Souls II.

Bloodborne will be released on the PlayStation 4 on March 24.
