Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is bringing back Metal Gear Solid IV’s cult-favorite online portion, Metal Gear Online, in a bigger, badder, all new way. This weekend at the Game Awards, series creator Hideo Kojima took to the stage to introduce the new version and show off the debut trailer.
The original Metal Gear Online took its parent game’s mechanics online into team deathmatch scenarios. These unfolded in the small, limited maps that Metal Gear Solid IV: Guns of the Patriots was built upon. Seeing as this new game is created entirely in an open-world, the restrictions of tiny maps no longer apply here. Take your team, find multiple ways to raid an enemy base, and of course, find multiple ways to defend it as well.
Plus, it has soldiers who fall in love with adorable puppies. Oh, Hideo Kojima.
You can leave feedback on the newest trailer and gameplay footage at Metal Gear Online‘s official Twitter page, seen here, or of course, you can discuss it in our own comment section as well.
Now we've shown first footage of #mgo3 in development, please do us the huge favor of giving us feedback on the kind of MGO you want to play
