The Legend of Zelda for Wii U Gets Official Gameplay Video

I missed the video game awards on Friday night. Truth be told, I was having some family time this weekend away from all things video game.

Then I got an email from our own Jon Rettinger about a new Zelda trailer. I missed it! And no one messaged me?! Well, consider that lapse covered. Hey, if you missed the video too, here it is.

Shigeru Miyamoto and Eiji Aonuma sit in front of a TV playing the upcoming Zelda game for the Wii U. This new adventure makes use of Epona, a massive landscape, a GamePad based waypoint system and the ability to leap off of the horse and slow down time for solid arrow shots.

Speaking of shooting arrows, one of the toughest bits about controlling Epona stemmed from how tough it was to aim while steering when the baddies come in. You can lock on, sure, but it’s still a touch more complicated than it should be.

In the Zelda for Wii U, Epona will intelligently trot in the direction you’re headed while you take time to aim. The horse will dodge trees independently, leaving you to your own bow firing devices. That’s a blessing, to be sure.

Zelda for Wii U was again confirmed for 2015 in the video. It will come after the Nintendo 3DS Majora’s Mask remake, though.

What do you think of the clip?
