SNK Wants to Know What Arcade Classics You Want on PS4 and Vita

Twinkle Star Sprites

SNK is a Japanese development company which has always drifted along the outskirts of video game history. For 25 years now, it’s always developed gorgeous games with big, perfectly animated sprites, and yet it never had the chance to really take off like Capcom and Konami did back in their heyday. Perhaps it was because it chose to focus mostly on arcades and the so-so popular NeoGeo consoles and never really on something more popular like the the Super Nintendo or SEGA Genesis.

Sony is still willing to give them the time of day at least. SNK ‘s most popular hit, Metal Slug 3, has been confirmed for a PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PS Vita release, and the world can finally rest easy about fat pills, uzi wielding monkeys, and zombies coughing up absurd amounts of blood making the leap to next-gen consoles. Seriously, just play Metal Slug 3, and you’ll know what I mean. It’s insane.

As for the rest of its games, well, SNK is interested in what you think! If you are going to the PlayStation Experience this weekend, be sure to swing by the SNK booth and drop your tally for the arcade classic you’d most like to see on PSN. Here are the list of choices SNK is going to have up for the vote.

  • ART OF FIGHTING 2
  • FATAL FURY SPECIAL
  • GAROU: MARK OF THE WOLVES
  • THE KING OF FIGHTERS ’97
  • THE KING OF FIGHTERS 2000
  • THE LAST BLADE 2
  • METAL SLUG X
  • NEO TURF MASTERS
  • REAL BOUT FATAL FURY 2: THE NEWCOMERS
  • SAMURAI SHODOWN II
  • SAMURAI SHODOWN V SPECIAL
  • SENGOKU 3
  • SHOCK TROOPERS: 2nd SQUAD
  • TWINKLE STAR SPRITES
  • THE ULTIMATE 11: SNK FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Well, I know Gaming Editor Joey Davidson is a huge fan of Twinkle Star Sprites. No really, he really loves this game, and he would be most appreciative if you could drop a vote or two in support of it. As for me, I’ve never been really huge on SNK outside of brief bouts with Metal Slug, but I think I would give my vote to Garou: Mark the Wolves. I’ve never played it, but it seems to be the one fighting game enthusiasts hold in the most regard. Because of that, I’d like to see why.

Yourself?
