We didn’t really need confirmation, because it’s been assumed for awhile now that Ryan Reynolds would return as Deadpool, but the actor on Thursday basically made it official.
Uh… It’s Chimichanga Time, his Tweet reads, along with a picture that’s very clearly Deadpool made of discarded bullet shells (Chimichangas are Deadpool’s favorite food). Captions are even included on the picture, highlighting Deadpool’s dueling personalities. The standalone Deadpool film was confirmed earlier this year after some pretty amazing test footage leaked out. Reynolds’ first turn as Deadpool was pretty forgettable, though that was more because of the filmmakers than his own acting. He’s actually the perfect fit for the role: wise-cracking, charming, and incredibly crude. With Reynolds now attached, filming will likely get underway very soon. After all, the movie is scheduled to hit theaters on Feb. 12, 2016. I just hope we don’t see a repeat of the awful X-Men Origins version that was so hilariously painful. In case you haven’t seen the test footage everyone has been raving about, you can check it out at the link here.
