The Nexus 9 was supposed to hit T-Mobile early this month, but a new leak reveals that the stock Android tablet’s UnCarrier release has been postponed. An internal note obtained by TMoNews appears to confirm the Nexus 9 won’t be coming to T-Mobile anytime soon.
“The launch of the Google Nexus 9 has been postponed,” the note reads. “This article will be updated with the launch date once it is confirmed.”
That doesn’t sound particularly promising, though of course the Nexus 9 could hit T-Mobile at any moment. The LTE-enabled Nexus 9 is still listed as “Coming soon” on Google Play, so it’s possible the company is having some trouble manufacturing the device. Whatever the reason, it could be a pretty massive miss if Google fails to deliver the device in time for the holiday shopping rush. For now, the Wi-Fi only Nexus 9 is available on Google Play in 16GB or 32GB variants, and promises to ship in just one or two business days.
The Nexus 9 is a pretty solid device overall despite a few design flaws, and a great way to experience Android 5.0 Lollipop on a big screen. It’s a good size at 8.9 inches with a 4:3 aspect ration, offers respectable battery life and a decent set of front-facing speakers. If you’re in the market for an Android tablet it’s definitely worth considering the latest from Google, though getting your hands on an LTE model is still easier said than done.
