Google+ announced a new feature today, only it’s not exactly new. Instead, Google’s struggling social network added the option to pin one post to the top of your profile, something Twitter rolled out for its own site back in April as part of a larger update.
Google’s version of the pinned tweet seems pretty identical, just open the menu for any Google+ post and click the pin option. After that it will stick to the top of your profile until you remove it or pin something else. The new feature should show up now for desktop and Android, with iOS support coming soon.
The news was announced by Google+ Product Management Director Dennis Troper, who suggests pinning a nice picture to the top of your profile. That makes sense, since one of the social network’s best features is its popular photo editing tools. It’d also be nice if you could control who sees your pinned post based on circles, another key feature of Google+, but for now that’s not an option.
