Apple could release not one, not two, but three new iPhones next year in an effort to make sure it has something for everyone. A fresh report out of Taiwan claims the company is developing a new 4-inch handset along with updated versions of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus.
According to some questionable supply chain sources, Apple’s new 4-inch iPhone would target anyone who prefers the convenience of one-handed use over a bigger screen. It’s unclear if the new device will adopt the design used for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, or stick with the brick-inspired look of the current iPhone 5s. It’s also possible the company could opt for another plastic device like the iPhone 5c, allowing it to sell the smaller handset at a discount.
Releasing three new iPhones makes sense in theory, but it’s unclear if Apple could actually pull it off. The company had enough trouble stocking the iPhone 6 Plus along with the smaller iPhone 6 when the two devices launched earlier this year, and adding a third model might put even more pressure on the its massive supply chain. Then again these are all rumors and who knows what we’ll actually see from Apple 10 months from now.
