Games stuck in the purgatory known as Games for Windows Live continue to get patched into modern services that people actually use. The latest such game is Red Faction: Guerrilla.
Volition’s open world mayhem simulator has been given a free “Steam Edition” update on PC that moves the game to steam as well as adding leaderboards, achievements, and trading cards.
Matchmaking and multiplayer will occur over Steamworks, and voice chat will work via Steam. The patch also adds in Behemoth mode and a bunch of Wrecking Crew maps. There are also a list of minor changes like camera fixes and removing aim assist in multiplayer.
The real story, though, is that the game in sale for just $2.99 until this Friday, making this patch well-timed.
If you haven’t checked out Guerrilla, this is a great opportunity to see what we’ve all been talking about when we wish for a proper sequel.
