We’ve already seen video footage of Android 5.0 Lollipop running on the Galaxy S5, and now it looks like the official update may be closing in as well. A new schedule released by French carrier SFR reveals plans to upgrade the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy Note 4 in the near future.
The Galaxy S5 could make the jump to Lollipop this month, at least in France, though it seems plausible U.S. carriers may push an update around the same time. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Note 4 is apparently scheduled for a software upgrade in January.
Based on earlier leaks, it looks like Samsung plans to fuse Google’s new Material Design with its own TouchWiz UI. Overall it should be an improvement over Samsung’s current software, though it may still be a step down for anyone who prefers the pure Android experience.
Android 5.0 Lollipop is a pretty big update for Google’s mobile OS, and we’re excited to see what it means for Samsung’s lineup. Hopefully we won’t have to wait much longer to find out, and we’ll be sure to let you know as those updates hit.
