Cool, collected, and armed with all the gun knowledge one could ask for, Barry Burton is a total boss and has a soft spot in the hearts of the Resident Evil crowd as one of its first fan favorite characters. After surviving the initial mansion incident which kickstarted this whole franchise, Burton went into hiding for many canonical games, and he is finally making his grand return to the franchise.
Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has confirmed through a leak that Burton will be returning to action for Resident Evil Revelations 2 as a playable character, joining alongside his daughter Moira and Resident Evil 2 star Claire Redfield.
Suspicions already arose of Barry making an appearance when the ESRB went and spoiled the surprise for everyone. Good job, guys!
Resident Evil Revelations 2 sees both Claire Redfield and Moira Burton searching for a way to escape an infested island. Presumably, from the ESRB’s description, Barry hires Claire to help him find his missing daughter, but the role of “father” and “daughter” become reversed somewhere in the process. My guess is that it falls into Claire’s and Moira’s hands to instead solve the mystery of the missing Barry.
Resident Evil Revelations 2 will release over the course of four episodes, and it will launch next February for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.
