Apple is expected to have a strong final calendar Q4 in 2014—Apple’s fiscal Q1—but a new report from KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo offers a few specifics on how many iPhones the company may actually sell. The respected Apple analyst claims Cupertino could ship a record 71.5 million smartphones, shattering the previous record of 51 million iPhones it set during last year’s holiday season.

iPhone 6 sales could lead the pack at over 41 million shipments, followed by the iPhone 6 Plus at 15 million units. Kuo adds that the iPhone 5s and 5c will likely continue to sell as well with 8.8 million and 4.3 million units shipped, respectively. Even the iPhone 4s could see over a million shipments this quarter, mostly in emerging markets.

By early next year iPhone sales are likely to drop to 21.6 million units shipped for the iPhone 6 and 10 million iPhone 6 Plus units. It won’t be long before speculation over the next generation of iPhones begins to heat up, weakening consumer interest until the new model launches in late 2015 and the whole cycle starts over again.
