The OnePlus One is one of the best smartphones to launch in 2014, but what does the Chinese startup have planned for next year? We already know that a follow-up OnePlus Two is in the works, but a report published this weekend by Business Insider reveals a few new details surrounding the mysterious handset.
The best thing about the OnePlus One was that it managed to offer high-end specs while undercutting the competition at just $299 off-contract. It looks like the company’s second smartphone will follow that strategy, offering solid hardware and a few “surprises” without raising the price over $500. These rumors comes from one anonymous source, who spilled the news to Business Insider but wouldn’t offer any specific details.
The same source also adds that the OnePlus Two will come with more customization options. The company originally promised to offer swappable back covers for the One—including a bamboo panel—but ended up scrapping those plans over a production issue. Hopefully the same thing won’t happen again next year.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for any more news on the upcoming smartphone. We can’t wait to see what the company has planned for 2015, though for now we’re still pretty happy using the original OnePlus One.
