Fans of fighting game geniuses Arc System Works who are itching to play their latest game, Guilty Gear Xrd: Sign, will have the chance to do so on Tuesday. A free demo will be live and available when the PlayStation Store updates only to PlayStation Plus subscribers.
For those who don’t have a history with the company, Arc System Works is largely credited for keeping the 2D fighting genre alive as other companies flee to 3D games or 2D games played with 3D graphics. Its Guilty Gear and BlazBlue have been cult-hits over the years, and the company has scored a lot of favor with the RPG crowd thanks to its excellent adaptation of the Persona franchise with Persona 4 Arena.
Guilty Gear has always been held in high regard with the fighting crowd thanks to its high-resolution art, outrageous character design, and excellent balance between each of the fighters. Sporting the powers of the PlayStation 4, it promises to be more gorgeous than ever before. If you need a fix from the olden days of 2D fighting games, you could do a lot worse than this.
The full version of Guilty Gear Xrd: Sign launches on PlayStation 4 on Dec. 16. Play the demo and up your skills before the rest of the online community can catch on.
