Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Cinematic Trailer to Play in Movie Theaters

by Ron Duwell | November 24, 2014November 24, 2014 11:30 am PDT

It’s been a while since Square Enix strutted its stuff at the cinema. I seem to remember that one time that it should have scared them off forever, but even since then, it still hasn’t shied away from the extra exposure during the trailer run.

With the company looking to reestablish itself back at the front of the JRPG genre, it has turned to this old practice, and where else better than through mainstream audiences during the year’s biggest blockbusters?

This is the new trailer for Final Fantasy Type-0 HD that will run before “the season’s biggest blockbuster films.” The first film it plans to show in front of is The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1, maybe indicating Square Enix’s desire to get in touch with a new generation of gamer. More specifically, the ones who didn’t get the chance to grow up when Final Fantasy was quite as relevant.

Eleven year old Ron poured over every bit of information on Final Fantasy VII after seeing trailers like this, so I don’t see why younger audiences won’t be able to either. Of course, eleven year old Ron was already knee deep in the JRPG genre thanks to Final Fantasy VI, Lufia II, and Chrono Trigger, and kids these days are already spoiled by impressive graphics everywhere they turn, but come on!

It’s Final Fantasy! Try it! It’ll make you feel good…

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD will release for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Mar, 17, and it will come packed with a demo for Final Fantasy XV.
