The point of Google Play Edition devices is that they run vanilla Android and therefore get the latest updates before everyone else—at least in theory. Unfortunately, anyone with the HTC One (M7) or One (M8) GPe is still waiting for Android 5.0 Lollipop, and now it looks like they’ll be waiting for at least a few more days.
The news comes from HTC’s VP of Product Management Mo Versi, who admitted on Twitter that it may take even longer than expected to push out Lollipop for its stock Android devices. He doesn’t offer many details on what happened, but simply notes that Google is asking for one more software version before approving the update.
@DarienSumting Darien, not tomorrow. Google requested one more SW spin. Will advise once we receive approval. Thanks.

At this point, there’s no word on when the update will be ready, though hopefully it won’t take more than a few extra days. Once the software is approved it should rollout in just 48 hours, and we’ll be keeping an eye out for any more news.
