Well, this is sort of obnoxious. Since Assassin’s Creed Unity‘s launch, I’ve been plagued numerous times with an obnoxious crashing bug. Our own Eric Frederiksen can attest to it as it happened several times while we were trying to join up for a cooperative mission.
I’d boot up the game (and this happens on all platforms, friends), press the Continue button and immediately watch the game crash and push me back to the Xbox One’s dashboard. This happened again and again and again. Eventually, my game worked and I moved on. It still happens, by the way. I have to keep launching until it works.
Ubisoft is apparently looking into fixing the problem permanently, but they have produced a temporary solution. They want you to remove all of your in-game contacts.
The team is working hard on a fix for those players that have been affected by this. However, for players who haven’t experienced this issue, we highly recommend you take the following steps to prevent a crash:
- Do not add any IN-GAME RECENT PLAYER as a GAME CONTACT
- If you already have GAME CONTACTS, perform the following to remove them:
My Brotherhood > My Contacts > Game Contacts (using RB/R1) > Focus on a Contact (LS) > More Actions (Y/Triangle) > Remove from contacts.
This game, folks… What is the deal? It’s broken. We can all see that, right?
We reviewed Assassin’s Creed Unity and slapped it with a Wait/Don’t Buy recommendation. As we approach the second week since its launch, we stick by that.
Don’t buy this game until it works. Even then, get it at a discount.
