iPad Air Back

Rather than wait for the Black Friday rush, Best Buy is discounting a handful or Apple products beginning today on through Sunday. The deals aren’t amazing, and only apply to older Apple gear, but if you’re intent on buying a new tablet this holiday season, going with last year’s iPad Air isn’t so bad.

All original iPad Air stock is being discounted by $80 to $100, bringing the price of Apple’s 16GB Wi-Fi model down to just $319. Although the device is a year old (ancient by technology standards), the iPad Air is still a pretty solid tablet, and especially good at such a discounted rate. Apple’s newest iPad Air 2 starts at $499, while a device like the Nexus 9 goes for $399. When you think about it in that context, the iPad Air seems downright cheap.

If the Wi-Fi model isn’t your thing, Best Buy is taking $100 off cellular models of the iPad Air; you can get the 32GB Wi-Fi + Cellular for $479, which is cheaper than an entry-level 16GB iPad Air 2.

In addition, Best Buy is taking $50 off the fifth-generation 64GB iPod touch, dropping the price to $249. My advice to you would be to go for Apple’s iPad Air, which isn’t much more with the $80 discount. Best Buy will also offer the Solo HD Drenched Beats by Dr. Dre for just $99, a $70 discount; you can pick up the black, red or white models with the discounted rate.

If you prefer to wait for the Black Friday madness, Best Buy actually has plans to drop the price on Apple’s latest slates. The retailer is expected to take $100 off the purchase price of the iPad Air 2, and about $80 off the iPad mini 3; that brings the starting retail price to just $399 for the Air 2, and $324.99 for the mini 3. Not bad at all, though we’d still recommend the iPad mini 2 over Apple’s new small tab since it’s cheaper and sports the same specs (just with no Touch ID).

Black Friday is rapidly approaching, which means there will be all kinds of deals flying left and right. If the iPad is on your wish list, keep an eye on Best Buy’s site. You probably won’t find better deals anywhere else.
