AT&T and LG recently announced a new partnership in which LG will work closely with AT&T on its connected car efforts. In particular, the two firms will collaborate on AT&T Drive to help design new services that will run on new hardware “for tomorrow’s vehicles.”
AT&T Drive is an initiative based out of the AT&T Drive Studio in Atlanta, which features a 5,000 square-foot testing facility, complete with its own garage doors, where AT&T and its partners can work together in real-time on future technology. As a sponsor, LG will join 12 other companies that are already participating in the AT&T Drive Studio.
LG’s vice president and head of in-vehicle infotainment, Jong Rak Lim, said that his firm has found that safety, comfort and convenience are three of the most important factors customers and OEMs want in a new car. With AT&T, LG plans to help improve the driver’s experience in all three areas, particularly through smart car advancements.
