GTA V gets Seven Minutes of First-Person Driving Footage Ahead of Release

When Grand Theft Auto V releases for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One tomorrow, I imagine a large chunk of gamers playing the game on the new platforms will try out one of its most recently hyped modes: first-person perspective.

Today we have a video nearly eight minutes in length that shows off some first-person driving. It comes from portions all over the game, though it starts with the early stuff, and we even see a bit of flying towards the back half of the clip.

It actually looks pretty solid, and it adds a whole new sense of speed to Rockstar’s open world. I’ll be honest, the first-person mode has been rather “blah” to me up until now. This clip makes me want to try it, and I do believe that’s saying something.

If you’re wondering why you can only hear one side of the dialogue at moments while in vehicles, I believe I know the answer. This is PlayStation 4 gameplay, and news from the last few weeks revealed that you can have phone calls play out of the DualShock 4’s speaker on that system rather than your sound system. I think that’s what’s happening here. I  can’t confirm it yet, of course, but that makes sense to me.

Grand Theft Auto V will hit the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 tomorrow. The game will sell for the PC on Jan. 27, 2015. Stay tuned for more from us.
