Capcom has released several new gameplay trailers showing off all of the different options and basic actions you can take when playing through the incoming Resident Evil Revelations 2.
The first option shown off has been at the center of Resident Evil since Resident Evil 4. Cross hair or laser sight? Do you strive for a more authentic experience and use the laser sights, or do you break the fourth wall and add the cross hairs? One of these can exist in a real world, or in this case, Claire Redfield’s vision, and one of them can’t.
Other than this, the most interesting reveal in these trailer is the differences between Claire Redfield and her companion, Moira Burton. Claire uses firearms to blow away the undead, and Moira uses a flashlight to blind enemies and find hidden items. Resident Evil Revelations 2 requires both of these to complete. A quick push of the triangle button is all it takes to swap between the two.
From there, it should be pretty self-explanatory by modern standards. Aiming down over the shoulder, melee attacks, real-time weapon changing, and an evasion maneuver. Resident Evil Revelations 2 doesn’t look like it will revolutionize the formula too much, but just like its predecessor Resident Evil Revelations HD, it will be more focused on taking it back to basics and propping it back up on its feet.
That’s all this franchise needs right now. No need to re-write the rule books just yet.
Resident Evil Revelations 2 will be released in early 2015 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. It will contain four separate episodes and be released over the course of a month for $24.99.
