The Moto X and the LG G3 may be two of the first consumer-focused devices to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update this week, and Samsung is gearing up its own release. While we’ve already seen some leaked footage of the Galaxy S5 running Lollipop, a new video on Monday from SamMobile shows an extensive comparison of the older Galaxy S4 running the new operating system. The changes are directly compared to Android 4.4.2, so you can see exactly what has been tweaked in the side-by-side comparison.
The video starts by showing off the new notifications, which we love, and shows some of the other UI tweaks, like how an Android 5.0 user with a Galaxy S4 will change the wallpaper, how to tweak widgets and more. It also shows that Samsung is updating TouchWiz on the Galaxy S4 through the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, which delivers the new settings menu, a brand new dialer, a tweaked screen-off animation and more. It looks like this is going to be a pretty big update for Galaxy S4 and one that’s going to be well worth the wait when it rolls out.
Unfortunately, we still don’t know when it will be released. SamMobile suggests it will begin hitting some phones in the coming months, but it’s also no doubt going to face some release barriers through carrier approval systems in the United States.
