Galaxy S6 to Feature Two Curved Edges, Analyst Says

Galaxy S6 speculation is already starting to pick up, and today we have another rumor to add to the list for next year’s flagship Samsung phone. It sounds like the Galaxy S6 may take some inspiration from the Galaxy Note Edge with a display that curves around both sides of the device, at least according to IHS display senior analyst Jerry Yang, who claims the device could be “equipped with a dual-edge screen.”

This is just an analyst prediction so it’s not official, but it’s still an intriguing idea. Samsung is expected to revamp its flagship lineup next year with an initiative referred to internally as “Project Zero,” and a curved display might just do the trick. Based on recent leaks, we’re also expecting the upcoming smartphone to offer 32GB/64GB/128GB of storage, a Quad HD display, a new in-house LTE modem, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera and a beefed up processor. Some of that hardware may be pretty standard by the time the Galaxy S6 hits the market, so the dual-edge display may be the distinguishing factor Samsung needs.

Meanwhile, Samsung may also be gearing up to add a 4K display to its Galaxy Note family. Rumor has it the company will follow up this year’s Note 4 with a 5.9-inch Ultra HD Super AMOLED display for the Note 5 in 2015, potentially packing the screen with over 700 pixels per inch. Of course this is all just hearsay for now, but it sounds like Samsung may have some exciting new ideas already brewing for next year.
