Swype for iOS 8 Now Free Following Massive Update

by Jacob Kleinman | November 6, 2014November 6, 2014 5:00 pm PDT

Yesterday, Swype pushed out a pretty big update for iOS 8, adding more languages, Emoji prediction and more. Today, the app is available for free—down from the usual 99 cents— though we’re not sure how long this offer will last.

Swype is one of several popular third-party keyboards that lets you drag your finger across the screen to type, zigzagging between letters to create words and sentences. It’s a lot of fun and a real time saver over the traditional hunt-and-peck model. With its latest update, Swype now boasts support for 21 different languages, the option to switch between different keyboard layouts, and the ability to suggest emojis based on your message.

Like we said up top, Swype is free today, so download it now and try it for yourself. We’ve reached out to the company to see if this is a permanent change, but we’re guessing it’s just a limited promotion to celebrate the latest update. We’ll let you know when we hear back.
