A few weeks back, when Halo: The Master Chief Collection went gold, we learned that the game would launch alongside a massive day one patch. That patch would be required for online play, though the full campaigns of all four Halo games would be playable without it.
The patch was said to be 20GB in size, and that comes alongside the already 45GB size of the game alone.
We have two bits of good news for this massive download. First of all, for those with bandwidth restrictions, you should take some comfort in knowing that the patch will be 15GB instead of 20GB. Those 5GB should save you.
Second, the patch is available right now. So, if you have the game pre-loaded on your console, you can download the patch today instead of next week when you go to fire Halo: The Master Chief Collection up for the first time. That should save you some painfully long waiting time as the rest of the world tries to download and install the same patch.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection will release solely for the Xbox One on Nov. 11. That’s next week.
