Nintendo has already detailed how it plans to work the amiibo figurine line-up into Super Smash Bros., but we are still waiting for the details on a good many other games. One of the official games supporting the line-up is Mario Kart 8, and Nintendo has opened up on how the NFC-toys will do so.
Special costumes, that’s how. Ten characters who have been given the amiibo treatment appear in either Mario Kart 8 or the upcoming DLC: Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Donkey Kong, Link, Kirby, Captain Falcon, Samus and Fox McCloud. Each of these characters will be able to interact with his or her corresponding figurine to unlock new clothes to race around in.
Seriously Nintendo, you’re going to have to make a new Fire Emblem game soon, or my incoming Prince Marth is going to be useless outside of Super Smash Bros.
Expect the update for amiibo to come on Nov. 13, a whole week before the toys launch on Nov. 21. Stay tuned for the Nintendo Direct later this afternoon to find out more.
