HTC introduced the Desire EYE in early October. It’s an amazing new Android smartphone that offers a 13-megapixel wide-angle front-facing camera that focuses on creating top-notch selfie photos. We loved the device when we first had a chance to check it out, and while we already knew it was going to be exclusive to AT&T, we now know exactly when it will launch and how much it will cost.
The carrier on Monday announced that the HTC Desire EYE will hit stores starting on Nov. 7. You’ll be able to pick one up for $149.99 with a new two-year contract, or for $0 down with an AT&T Next 18 plan and $22.92 per month for 18 months. You’ll also pay $0 down and $27.50 per month for 12 months on AT&T Next 12. Finally, the HTC Desire EYE will be available from AT&T contract-free for $549.99.
AT&T also announced that it would begin accepting pre-orders for the HTC RE Camera on Nov. 7 ahead of in-store availability on Nov. 21. It will cost $149 if purchased with an HTC Desire EYE or $199 standalone. While the Desire EYE is exclusive to AT&T, the RE Camera will also be available through other outlets.
The Desire EYE isn’t a flagship in the sense that the HTC One (M8) was, but we love what it has to offer. Both 13-megapixel cameras seemed to take great pictures during our brief hands-on with the phone, and it’s also water and dust resistant, supports expandable storage, runs Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense 6, offers BoomSound front-facing speakers and more. Be sure to check out our hands-on with the Desire EYE for more information.
