Last week’s European release date for Dragon Ball Xenoverse has panned out to closely match up with the American release. Fans of the popular anime can pick up the canon-bending entry on Feb. 17 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC through Steam.
Europe will see the Steam release on Feb. 17, but the console versions will launch on Feb. 13. How often is it that Europe gets a Japanese game first? Not often. Congratulations, guys!
The American version comes with all the added bonuses of its European brother, including a playable SSJ4 Vegeta and two additional Frieza style body armors for the game’s customizable main character. The roster of fighters extends to the furthest reach of the series’ canon, and every one of your favorite heroes can pass on their special techniques to a player created central avatar.
I played Dragon Ball Xenoverse at Tokyo Game Show 2014, and I walked away pleased. The original fighting game formula isn’t that deep, but it does exactly what a licensed game is supposed to do: deliver an exciting adaptation of the property it represents. It felt like a Dragon Ball Z game is supposed to, and the adventure and character creation modes are just extra icing on top.
One more time, Dragon Ball Xenoverse will release on Feb. 17 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC through Steam. Expect our thoughts around then.
