I enjoy the StreetPass features on the Nintendo 3DS as much as the typical North American owner. It’s a thing I don’t really notice until I go to some sort of convention or press event, and then all of a sudden my system is lit up with tags from around the world.
I imagine most gamers in the States feel that way. StreetPassing isn’t a constant occurrence like it is in Japan. Heck, I brought my 3DS there for a single week and walked away with more than 150 tags from nothing but trains and city blocks.
As such, Nintendo’s doing this National StreetPass Weekend thing. All Nintendo 3DS owners are encouraged to bring their handhelds everywhere with them next weekend, and the hope is that enough people will hear the news and do the lugging that StreetPass tags will soar.
Hopefully that’s the case.
The full weekend dates run from Oct. 31 until Nov. 2. I’m totally going to lug my Nintendo 3DS around with my three-year-old while he goes Trick or Treating this year… gonna snag those mom and dad StreetPasses. Don’t judge us.
