Yesterday, we reported that leaked achievements for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas all but confirmed an HD port of the game on the Xbox 360. The fact that this week is the enormously popular game’s 10th anniversary was also a dead giveaway.
Today, Rockstar confirmed the news on its official website. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will be getting a full HD port on Microsoft’s previous generation console complete with achievements, and it will be available for download on Oct. 26. Rockstar’s website points out that it will be a “Games on Demand” release with a price tag of $14.99, and it will run in 720p with “enhanced draw distance.”
Rockstar would not comment on a PlayStation 3 port, but the PlayStation 2 Classics version is still up and running on the PlayStation Store for $3.99.
Grand Theft Auto V is the best selling game in the franchise, but it wouldn’t have garnered half the success it did without the template provided by this classic, which happens to be the best selling game on the best selling console of all time. Be sure to check it out either way.
