Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop Update Expected in Dec.

The Nexus 9 will officially be available on Nov. 3, marking the first time that consumers will be able to try out the final version of Android 5.0 Lollipop. Several phone makers have already discussed official roll-out schedules for the update, and while Samsung has teased a release for the Galaxy Note 4, the South Korea-based company has otherwise been rather mum on the topic. Now a new report suggests when we might start to see Android 5.0 Lollipop hit Samsung’s Galaxy S5 handset.

SamMobile said Friday that it has learned Samsung is currently on schedule to begin releasing Android 5.0 for the Galaxy S5 starting in December. It wisely warns that the launch may take even longer for some models of the Galaxy S5. In the U.S. for example, where the Galaxy S5 is sold on all major carriers, each single provider will need to make sure that the software passes its certification tests. That means that we might ultimately see international models of the Galaxy S5, which aren’t restricted to that sort of certification, receive the update in December. Then, as carriers approve it one-by-one, the launch will slowly expand to even more devices.

We assume that Samsung has plans to launch Android 5.0 Lollipop for more than just the Galaxy S5, however, but SamMobile is naming that smartphone specifically. We’ll let you know if we hear about any updates for additional devices. We’ve included SamMobile‘s video walkthrough of what the software will likely look like below.
